Michelle Rubinov

grew up playing classical piano competitively, after begging her parents to get her piano lessons at the age of six. As a teenager, she taught herself how to play the acoustic guitar and about two years ago, she started immersing herself in the York Region music scene; starting with karaoke nights, moving on to performing at open mics, and even joining other bands like Jay Dee Band on vocals and tambourine! Battling stage fright all the while, she started writing her own songs and finally set out to perform her original material, as an acoustic duo with Kevin Zarnett on accompanying solo guitar. An avid traveller, Michelle has also spent significant time living in Israel and California, and while she carries a global perspective, her songs always return to the heart of the matter. Still at the start of her new musical journey, Michelle is excited to continue writing songs, inspired by a mix of rock, folk, and indie music.
