Edgewood (ft Mari Nicolson)

Celebrating Mari Nicolson – singer/songwriter. Sadly, she passed away on May 31st, 2023, at age 56. Throughout her life Mari travelled extensively with her guitar, entertaining people with covers of older, obscure songs along with songs that she wrote. She hosted legendary crazy kitchen music parties. A solo EP of Mari’s early work was recorded around 2009. Mari’s Kitchen Band was formed in 2011 playing pubs, benefits, and parties. That evolved into Edgewood which had a greater focus on original material, and was a fixture at Richmond Hill events. By 2015 Edgewood evolved into a musical partnership with Mari on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Robert Winter on guitar and Howard Stern on keyboards and vocals. This core was supplemented on stage and in the studio by some talented Toronto area musicians. In 2016 Edgewood issued a 5 song EP called “On The Edge”. One of those songs was remixed/mastered for the 2024 edition of Songs From The Hill.
After Edgewood, Mari continued to play gigs around Richmond Hill with a variety of musicians. Mari’s path in life was a wide one and her passing has left many people with sadness. A collection of her songs is available on BandCamp.
